Module 1
Introduction to Mediation

​This course is designed for candidates seeking an overview and a general understanding of mediation and its potential application on commercial disputes.

Membership
​

The course is also relevant to those candidates seeking to gain certified APD (Associate Prime Dispute) membership designation and/or become a party representative.
​
The objectives of the course are as follows: 
​
  • Mediation theory and background;
  • Basic overview of the models of mediation; 
  • Skills of a mediator and setting the ground rules; 
  • Overview of the processes involved in the mediation meeting; 
  • Comparison of Mediation with other dispute avoidance and resolution mechanisms.

Day 1: 09:30-18:30 GMT - Online

Assessment:

This module is not assessed in a formal manner but does require candidates to undertake a degree of preparation before attending and 100% attendance is required.

​Entry Requirements:

There are no specific entry requirements. This course is at foundation level and is a precursor to 'Module 2: Prime Dispute Accredited Mediation Skills & Assessment Training'. It is appropriate for candidates who require a basic understanding of Mediation and candidates who wish to join Prime Dispute as an APD (Associate Prime Dispute) member.

Module 2
Accredited Mediator Skills & Assessment Training

This Module is available to candidates after they have successfully completed; 'Module 1:  Introduction to Mediation'; or already have an understanding of mediation or similar mechanisms. Prime Dispute's 'Accredited Mediation Skills & Assessment Training' (UK & International) provides the candidate with the tools to learn and develop practical skills as a mediator and develop candidates and mediators dealing with B2B and B2C disputes.

Membership

This course is for candidates who are seeking to become a Prime Dispute Accredited Mediator and gain our MPD (Member Prime Dispute) membership designation. 

The objectives of the course are as follows:
​ 
  • To support industry to avoid and resolve conflicts efficiently, effectively and ethically;
  • To engage with the parties to achieve solution based outcomes;
  • To act as an effective leader in mediation and be able to promote the benefits to Industry;
  • To manage the mediation process effectively from start to end by using techniques and language that is connected to settlement;
  • To demonstrate the skills to manage a mediation.

Day 2: 08:30-18:30 GMT - Practical Day
Day 3: 08:30-18:30 GMT - Practical Day
Day 4: 08:30-18:30 GMT - Assessment Day 
Day 5: 08:30-18:30 GMT - Assessment Day

Assessment:
​
Candidates will act as a mediator in two role play scenarios and may also play the role of one of the parties. Constructive feedback from the Educators will be provided. Any Candidate who fails the assessment will only be required to re-sit the assessment. Candidates are assessed during the module and this assessment is based on either a pass or fail. If candidates fail, feedback will be provided by the Educator. Candidates will be informed by Prime Dispute of the results. Candidates
are also required to undertake pre-course preparation and 100% attendance is
required.

Entry Requirements:

Has completed an 'Introduction to Mediation', has a proven understanding of Mediation in B2B and B2C disputes, or has received a personal invitation from Prime Dispute to attend.

Module 3
​Mediation Panels (Optional)
​
This Module is available to candidates who have successfully completed Prime Dispute's 'Module 2 - Accredited Mediator Skills & Assessment Training' or have been invited to join 'Prime Dispute's Mediation Panels.

Membership 

This course is for candidates who are seeking to gain FPD (Fellow Prime Dispute) membership designation. All candidates who are seeking to join Prime Dispute Specialist Panels must meet all requirements as stipulated in the 'Criteria for inclusion on Prime Dispute's Panels'.

The objectives of the course are as follows: 
​
  • Understand the needs and expectations of B2C and B2B clients;
  • Support the growth of International Mediation in commercial disputes;
  • Understand Mediation models as they relate to B2B and B2C disputes; 
  • Understanding and working with parties with a set of Mediation Rules; 
  • Supporting the parties to achieve outcomes based on commercial goals;
  • Understanding Mediation and the Law;
  • Managing Mediation contract clauses and agreements.

Course Structure:

Day 1: 09:30-18:30 GMT - Online 

Who should attend this Course: 
  • Candidates who would like to join Prime Dispute's Mediation Panel;
  • Individuals who would like to develop their roles as an industry educator in mediation;
  • Individuals who are accredited Mediators.

Assessment:

Write a brief action plan about how you wish to take mediation forward in your career. This action plan will support Candidates to put their vision into action.
Candidates are also required to undertake pre-course preparation and 100% attendance is required.

Entry Requirements:

Successfully completed 'Mediation Skills & Mediation Assessment Training'; (or similar), or have received a personal invitation from Prime
Dispute to attend.
