Dr Tanya Hendry has 20 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law. A lawyer with specialist experience as corporate counsel, advisor and consultant to several companies of various sizes and complexity, operating in the oil and gas, energy, mining, water and construction / engineering sectors, among others. Corporate experience includes the structuring of companies, advising of shareholders and boards, management of mergers, acquisitions and sales of companies and assets as well as the drafting of contracts and negotiation of terms. Industrial-related experience includes advising and managing a wide range of legal and contractual issues and questions arising during the execution of large projects. These comprise complex claims and disputes involving various different legal systems in multiple countries relating to both commercial and technical aspects of the projects. A broad spectrum of other business skills and expertise, including contract, account, and marketing management with focus on company operations. An understanding of analytics, risk management and the mitigation of disputes, and also the value of instilling a culture of ownership and trust within organisations and client relationships. Although holding various legal degrees and qualifications, including an LLB, LLM, LLD, M.Inst.D, MCIArb and SCL (UK), Dr Tanya Hendry also serves as a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators, an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and as a committee member (Vice Chairman) of the CIArb (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators). Dr Tanya Hendry also provides training for various entities, hosting inhouse and public courses for entities like Induna Training and the Association of Arbitrators of Southern Africa NPC.
